Carol Hartman-Devall “I was born in Kansas in 1955 and grew up in Nebraska. I have a BFA degree from the University of Nebraska. In addition to hand colored linoleum prints I have done three dimensional work in varying combinations of papier mache, wood, gourds and ceramic. I live in Lincoln, Nebraska with my three kids Claire, Hans and Jules and two cats, Jasper and Zizzy.”
Often that which is whimsical is not taken seriously in the world of art. Many think good art must be serious, profound and difficult to understand. To me art is a celebration of all that there is. Laughter to me is as sacred as any prayer. Some whimsical images can be a combination of that which is silly and scary. I try to use the light and beautiful to make the scary more viewable, so we can embrace it and use it to our advantage.
